There is no single reason to begin counselling. You may be navigating something painful, feeling stuck in familiar patterns, moving through a period of change, or simply wanting to understand yourself more deeply.

My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and person-centred. Together, we create space to explore what has shaped you, understand what is happening now, and identify what you need to move forward.

Counselling, centred around you.

People come to counselling for many different reasons. Sometimes there is a clear experience or challenge you want support navigating. Other times, you may simply know that something feels difficult, disconnected, or ready to change.

Some of the areas we can explore together include:

What Can Counselling Support?

Trauma & Difficult Experiences

Past experiences can continue to shape how we think, feel, relate, and respond long after they have happened. Counselling can offer a safe space to understand these experiences, their impact, and the ways you have learned to survive and adapt.

Anxiety, Stress & Overthinking

Whether you're experiencing persistent worry, overwhelm, perfectionism, racing thoughts, or difficulty slowing down, counselling can help you better understand these patterns and develop tools to feel more grounded and regulated.

Depression & Feeling Stuck

Sometimes life can feel heavy, disconnected, or difficult to move through. Together, we can explore what may be contributing to how you're feeling while supporting greater connection, self-understanding, and meaningful movement forward.

Life Transitions & Identity

Change can be exciting, painful, disorienting, or all three at once. Counselling can support you through relationship changes, career shifts, relocation, changing family roles, cultural or identity exploration, and periods of uncertainty about what comes next.

Relationships, Attachment & Boundaries

Our relationships often reveal some of our deepest patterns. Counselling can help you explore attachment, communication, people-pleasing, boundaries, conflict, relationship patterns, and how past experiences may be influencing the way you connect with others today.

Personal Growth & Self-Understanding

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. Therapy can also be a space to deepen self-awareness, strengthen self-trust, understand recurring patterns, explore your values and needs, and become more intentional about the life you're creating.

How I Approach Counselling

My approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and person-centred. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or asking what needs to be fixed, I am interested in understanding what has happened, what you have learned along the way, and how those experiences may be shaping your life today.

Together, we can explore the connections between your thoughts, emotions, relationships, behaviours, and nervous system while building on the strengths and resources you already have. Depending on your needs and goals, our work may draw from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based approaches, attachment theory, strengths-based practices, and nervous system-informed perspectives.

Above all, I believe counselling is collaborative. You are the expert on your own experience. My role is not to tell you who to become, but to offer curiosity, perspective, practical tools, and a supportive space as you decide what moving forward looks like for you.

What Counselling Looks Like

There is no single formula for counselling. Our work will evolve around you, your goals, and what feels most useful at each stage of the process.

We begin with understanding.

Our first sessions are an opportunity to get to know one another and explore what is bringing you to counselling, what has been happening in your life, and what you hope might be different. There is no expectation that you arrive knowing exactly what you need or where to begin.

We make sense of the patterns.

As we work together, we may begin noticing connections between your experiences, thoughts, emotions, relationships, behaviours, and nervous system. Sometimes understanding how something developed can change the way we relate to it.

We build skills and create change.

Insight matters, but counselling can also be practical. Depending on what you need, we may work with strategies for emotional regulation, coping, boundaries, communication, mindfulness, self-compassion, or changing patterns that are no longer serving you.

We move at your pace.

You will never be expected to disclose something before you are ready. Particularly when working with trauma, safety and trust come first. We can slow down, shift direction, or revisit goals as your needs change.

You don't need to know exactly where you're going before you begin. We can figure that out together.
